Cannaisseur Brands guarantees premium, quality assured and lab tested CBD in all of our products. Our CBD is sourced directly from the cannabis flower, cultivated and harvested by our partners in California.

Our CBD is extracted from flower to oil using solventless supercritical CO2 extraction.

Aryn is a firm believer that CBD is more effective when harvested from cannabis than hemp. Cannabis derived CBD is harvested from the whole plant to include medical terpenes and secondary cannabinoids to create entourage effect. Hemp is often mistaken for its cousin, cannabis. Confusion between hemp oil and cannabis oil has spiked recently, as consumers are noticing CBD products on the market, sourced from hemp oil. This is due to the passage of Section 7606 of the Federal Farm Bill that allows farmers to cultivate industrial hemp.

However, it is important to note that for centuries hemp has been, and remains, an agricultural plant grown for fiber, food, textiles, building materials and many other industrial uses. The CBD content in the hemp plant is very low, typically less than 25 parts per million (ppm), while the CBD content from cannabis flowers are up to 150,000 ppm. Furthermore, hemp derived CBD lack critical medicinal terpenes and secondary cannabinoids found in cannabis plant.

In 2014, Project CBD, a California-based nonprofit dedicated to promoting and publicizing research into the medical uses of CBD, tested several CBD hemp oil products available to the public and found significant levels of toxic solvent residues in random samples. Hexane, a solvent frequently used to extract CBDs from hemp, has been found by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to be neurotoxic. Not to mention that hemp is a bioaccumulator, meaning that it naturally absorbs toxic substances from the soil.

The problem of companies marketing their CBD based products sourced from hemp has raised eyebrows from the hemp industry itself. The Hemp Industries Association of America issued a statement addressing this concern:

“The hemp retail market growing at an incredible rate, it’s crucial that consumers and retailers alike understand the difference between hemp oil and CBD extracts. Our Hemp Industries Association position regarding this distinction calls on makers of CBD products to brand and market their products truthfully and clearly, so as to not further the confusion surrounding CBD products in the marketplace. CBD is not a product or component of hemp seeds, and labeling to that effect is misleading and motivated by the desire to take advantage of the legal gray area of CBD under federal law.”
